Glamping is the only way...

Glamping is the only way...

I have always loved nature and the outdoors but never really got into the whole "roughing it" thing.  I’ll never forget, it was May long weekend in Vancouver and we were invited to join our friends and family on one of those "roughing it" camping trips.  We thought we were prepared – we had blankets, an air mattress, an old tent with a tarp that covered a gaping hole, a cooler (filled with beer and not a whole lot else), a BBQ, and that's about it.  What were we thinking…May long weekend in Vancouver? There was one guarantee: rain was imminent. OK, there were two guarantees: it would also be flipping freezing. I swear, to this day, I have never felt cold like that before.  We kind of called it quits on the whole camping thing after that experience.  I mean, we received invites, but I always came up with some excuse and backed out graciously.

"Come camping they said, it will be fun they said".

- ex friends and family

Fast-forward to 2018 and the arrival of Leo, our 10-month-old bundle of joy.  There is just something about having a baby that makes you want to try new things, show them the world, and let them experience as much as humanly possible.  Leo loves being outside – and by that, I mean he loves eating dirt, sand, and small pebbles from the playground. Oh, and don’t let me forget this: licking garbage cans at the park. Yup, that actually happened. So to help bring the outdoors back into our lives and provide crazy family-filled camping adventures for Leo, we did what any normal couple would do: we bought a 16 foot Tripple E trailer.

" I guess we're going camping"

- Taylor said hesitantly

When the beast arrived it was painted blue and the interior was, well.... brown. Very brown. In its current state you kind of feel like you are inside a cardboard box fort. You know, the ones you used to make as a kid. But if you look past that, it really is perfect for our family. The table in the front of the trailer folds down into a bed, and there is plenty of room for Leo's pack ‘n play in the back.  There’s a washroom with a toilet and sink and a kitchen with a stove, fridge, and cook top. I'd say we are already doing way better than our tent with the huge hole in the roof.

What is the vision for this beast? We are going light and bright. Everything will be painted white and we’ll add pops of color with eclectic patterns, textured pillows, and some attractive yet durable (does that even exist?) fabric for the cushions. I want a cozy space that shows our personality – even if it’s in the middle of butt-flip nowhere.
