Some of our favorites

Since starting this passion project back in 2017, we’ve had the opportunity to work with some wonderful people and create some really incredible spaces.  We thought it would be fun to take a walk down memory lane and revisit some of those projects that had us dishing high fives with two hands and jumping at the same time… get the visual?  We hope you enjoy reading about some of our top space makeovers!

Our First Gig

This baby started it all.  We renovated a two-bedroom condo in the fall of 2016 and this project is truly what lit the old flame. Love Sims Home was officially born!  Everything we did was new – flooring, lighting and electrical, kitchen, bathrooms, paint – you name it, we did it.   It was so exciting to see the space come together and our vision come to life.  We started to find our design style and get into our own groove. It also helped us figure out what works well in specific spaces.

Main Floor Refresh

I still catch myself scrolling through this remodel and secretly wishing we could move in with this super cute family.  Their home was awesome but due for a refresh… it needed some help moving out of the builder beige bracket.  We worked on the entire first floor – we changed out the flooring, painted all the walls and ceilings, reworked their guest bath, and refreshed their kitchen.  By far my favorite part was the makeover in the kitchen space.  The original cabinets were in great shape but the counter top and back splash made the space feel dated.  We kept the original cabinetry, changed out the hardware, added a stunning subway tile back splash and feature wall, and installed a beautiful quartz counter top.  We added new lighting in the space and reclaimed wood shelves to create a warm and bright focal point in the heart of the home.

Downtown Rental

This was such a fun project.  We had the opportunity to work with the sweetest women ever who invited us into her rental property to give it a refresh.  This project was mainly cosmetic as all of the main features stayed in place – but the touches that were added really brought the small space to life.  We wanted to create a light and bright feel through the apartment and put all the focus on the amazing window views of downtown.  We did the floors first with a durable rustic laminate that would stand the test of time. We then painted the walls a soft grey and added ship lap to the fireplace.  My favorite feature of the space was the makeover to the fireplace and the unused nook beside it.  We added weathered ship lap to the entire wall including the lead-in to the kitchen.  We also installed a reclaimed wood mantel that we stained to match a new wood bar top.  There was a nook beside the fireplace that had no functional purpose, so we added some open shelving to create a stylish and practical storage area.

Double Bathroom

This remodel is so exciting to look back at.  We had the opportunity to work with friends of ours to recreate two bathroom spaces: one for her and the other for him.  How cool is that?  The guest bath started out dark and dreary with the original owner putting in outdoor patio tiles. This was not a great call for wet feet coming out of the shower.  In addition to painting the walls a beautiful blue, we used a custom chair rail to bring in some white and add visual interest to the space.  The flooring was a smoky grey marble that made the bathroom look huge and was super easy to keep clean.  In the main bathroom, we changed the dated corner shower to something more modern and spacious. The final touch was a soft grey paint for the wall to keep the room feeling both bright and warm.
